Realtime technology

The latest advancement in the court reporting industry that is specifically designed to help attorneys do their job more quickly and efficiently. It is a process by which a computerized stenotype machine is linked with a laptop computer and the phonetic symbols entered by the court reporter are translated by the computer software into English. There is about a three-second lag time, thus enabling the viewer to read along with the speaker.

Videography

Fully equipped to produce quality video, Guardian Reporting, Inc., will help you maximize your potential in the courtroom. Three-chip video cameras, state-of-the-art video equipment, and our certified videographers will ensure high-quality image and sound provided in CD-ROM or VHS. Transcript text and video images will be synched on CD-ROM upon request.

Condensed Transcripts

A condensed transcript is a supplemental transcript that reduces four to six pages of testimony to one page. By printing on both sides of a page, 12 pages of transcript can be printed on one sheet of paper. Reducing the amount of paper by 92 percent saves attorneys on photocopy, postage, and storage costs. Upon request, Guardian Reporting, Inc. will provide a blank section on each page for note taking. Attorneys often prefer condensed transcripts because they create organized, manageable trial notebooks and permit large amounts of testimony to be viewed at a glance.

Word Index

Guardian Reporting, Inc. generates an alphabetical word index, of every word in a specific transcript by both page and line number. This facilitates on-the-spot impeachment or corroboration by allowing attorneys to locate specific testimony quickly. Court reporters associated with Guardian generate a keyword indices of referenced terms upon request. The advantage of a keyword index is that it has a contextual option. A specified number of transcript lines appear above and below the referenced terms. For example, if there is a need to quickly find specific testimony containing the phrase "red light," the attorney can scan the keyword index to find the location of the testimony without having to check the entire transcript for every appearance of "red light."

ASCII Disks

An ASCII version of the disk provides attorneys who use litigation support software with an electronic transcript which can be downloaded. ASCII disks allow the viewing of transcripts on computers and the copying and pasting of sections of transcripts for briefs, memorandums, and correspondence.

Time Stamping

While videotaped expert testimony is often an integral part of discovery, it is time consuming for attorneys and paralegals to play and rewind videotape to locate, catalog, and index testimony. Much of this work is virtually eliminated by using time stamping. The court reporter associated with Guardian will synchronize his or her steno machine's clock with the videographer's time stamps at the beginning of a deposition or hearing. The transcript can then be printed with time stamp indicators next to the text specifying the time testimony was spoken.

E-transcript
